Watch: Russell Brand Says Establishment Lies Created Need For ‘Alex Jones’ Types

Actor Russell Brand posted a YouTube video Tuesday sharing his view on the recent jury decision to fine Infowars founder Alex Jones $50 million in a Sandy Hook-related lawsuit.

Brand started his message by acknowledging he disagreed with Jones’ retracted remarks about Sandy Hook before noting he agrees with him on many other subjects.

“I think as a figure, Alex Jones is more like a shaman or evangelical preacher,” Brand explained. “He operates on the periphery of a culture, telling you things that sometimes seems mad and hysterical, but many times – of course I’m not talking about this horrible example around Sandy Hook – but many times he’s been ahead of the curve.”

Giving Jones credit for admitting his mistakes to the public, Brand asked, “When have you ever seen a powerful politician in the last twenty years come out and go, ‘We were wrong about that. We told you stuff at the beginning of this pandemic because we were being optimistic and we were quite wrong. We should have said this. I apologize?'”

The popular actor went on to argue that the mainstream media’s obsession with lying to the public and lack of government transparency have created the conditions for conspiracy theories to thrive.

“So, Alex Jones, I think, is an example of someone who has emerged because there was a need for Alex Jones,” he said.

Brand also told his viewers the elite want people to dismiss Alex Jones and not listen to other topics he covers because they expose and challenge the establishment system.

He noted, “We’re continually told that the most dangerous conspiracies are the conspiracies that come from individuals online, whether that’s an individual like you or me or Alex Jones who has a voice and has Infowars and has a degree of power and influence. Those are the conspiracies we’re supposed to focus on.”

Continuing, Brand said, “But the real conspiracies are of course the ones that are in the hands of the powerful,” and claimed, “The worst conspiracy theories are the ones hidden in plain sight. The attempts to bankrupt ordinary people, to continue to centralize power, continual attempts to disrupt Democratic process by very powerful centralized financial forces.”

With half a million views in 24 hours, it’s clear the people of the world are seeking alternative takes on the Alex Jones Sandy Hook saga they won’t find on the openly biased mainstream networks.
