Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) called out the double standard in the U.S. government under Joe Biden, noting that Steve Bannon was convicted of contempt of Congress while Democrat bureaucrats who lied to Congress are still free.

Bannon, who served as White House strategist in the Trump administration, was convicted of contempt of Congress on Friday despite Trump invoking executive privilege preventing Bannon from testifying before the Democrat-led January 6 committee.

“Whatever you think of Bannon, the fact he was charged with contempt of Congress, but Clapper, Brennan & others who lied to Congress have never been charged, shows how the Biden admin / elite have shamelessly weaponized law enforcement into a political hit squad,” Gabbard tweeted Saturday.

The former Democrat congresswoman was referring to Obama’s former National Intelligence Director James Clapper and former CIA Director John Brennan.

Clapper in 2013 lied to Congress about the government bulk-collecting the private data of millions of Americans.

Brennan lied to Congress in 2017 about including the infamous Steele Dossier in the FBI’s witch hunt against former President Trump related to the Hillary Clinton-contrived Russia collusion narrative.

Another Obama official who escaped contempt of Congress charges in 2014 was former Attorney General Eric Holder, who refused to turn over DOJ documents related to its “Fast and Furious” gun-running operation.

Responding to his conviction on Friday, Bannon claimed the Democrat-led Jan. 6 committee has been “completely lawless” in how it’s conducted its hearings and assured that he will appeal the conviction, which could bring a two-years jail sentence.

“As you can tell, the Democrats are completely lawless and look how they’ve run this committee,” Bannon said on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

“There’s no ranking member, there’s no minority council, it’s not like the traditional hearings that have galvanized the nation in the past and Tucker, I think it’s one of the reasons that it hasn’t really had that big an impact.”

“I will never back off. I support Trump and the constitution, and I’m not backing off one inch. This is an ideological war and we cannot lose. If I go to jail, I go to jail. I will never back off a second,” he added.
